Incorrect lense due to carelessness

I had to go back to Executive Optical to have my contact lens checked. When I got home last night, I’ve noticked one of the four boxes of the contact lenses was still sealed. So I opened it up and found that both lenses in the box have 175 . I started to doubt if the lenses that the lady applied to me are both 200. They hadit checked and confirmed both were 200. They replaced it. For the second time, I asked them to help me apply my lenses.
I and boo had our lunch today at Kenny Rogers, Glorietta. Madami naka costume na mga sales clerk at mga bata na nagiikot para manghingi ng treats. Madami tao ngayon. Para bang nalimutanpansamantala ng mga tao ang nangyari sa G2.

At 4pm nasa office na ako. Our company held a Treat or Trick party for the employee’s kids. My brother and his girlfirend with their daughther Ten were at the party so I gotta be there as well
. I was supposed to meet a buyer from ebay at 3:30PM at the Exportbank lobby but I was late dahil sa pila sa Breadtalk and take note dalawang beses ako nasingitan. Buti na lang at pinadala ko na yung item na bibilhin nya sa brother ko so sila na lang ang nagkita. It was a PS2 dancepad controller that boo bought in chicago. There were 2 of them. I’m keeping one of it , used quite a few times and the other was left unused for more than a year. So I decided to sell it so somebody can use and enjoy it.

Nanood kami ng “30 Days Of Night” sa G4,Glorietta at 10:30 PM, we were 10-min late! It was again…unplanned. The movie was not that scary but it was really gross. Vampires do exist nowadays, but they don’t suck blood, they suck your energy and resources. Bato bato sa langit, ang tamaan wag magagalit

Goodbye eyeglass, hello contact lens
October 30, 2007 | 101 Views | Leave a Comment
It’s time to get myself a contact lens. I started wearing an eyeglass when I was in college. I’ve worn 2 eyeglasses and lost both. Back then my prescription was 100/75. Last year, after 5 years of not wearing eyeglasses, I got myself another one. This time my prescription was 200/200, but they gave me only half of my prescription since they said I did not wear one for a long time. I got myself a simple Liz claiborne plastic black and white frame eyeglassess. The frame cost me almost 5 thousand and spent another 3 thousand for the lenses and special coating. The store gave me a discount and removed almost two thousand off from the total amount. My glasses has Photochromic lenses, also called variable-tint lenses or transition lenses, that darken in the sun. I would recommend it to someone who spend a lot of time outdoors. Those who love pictures will love their pictures taken even when their glasses are on if you have Photochromic lense. Because you will not see glare spots. They also applied anti-reflective coating, UV coating and scratch-resistant that made the lenses more attractive and longer-lasting. I love my glasses no doubt. But wearing it everyday is a burden. I’m also not comfortable wearing it especially while crossing the streets.

It’s time to get myself a contacts. I went back to Executive Optical and bought a year of supply. Four pairs of disposable lenses. I got 2 bottles of cleaning solutions for free. Each pair can be use for 3 months and cost PhP680.00. I have lenses enough for a year. I picked 3 colors, 2 pepermint, an aquamarine and cofee-brown. I asked them to help apply my first pair, pepermint. My vision was quite cloudy at first, but it became clearer while we were watching “Lust, Caution” movie at G4.

Their sales clerk lady taught me how to apply and remove the lenses. And tonight was the first time I had it removed. All right. I have a confession. It took me more than 10 mins to remove it. I tried for so many times to gently pinch the lens together with my index finger and thumb and lift it off my eyes but It was not easy. I tried reading on the internet and found out there are easier way to remove it. They said you just look upward or sideways while you pull down your lower eyelid and with the index finger, gently maneuver the lens onto the white of your eye and lift it off from the eye using your index finder and thumb. Easy for them to say, but very difficult for a newbie like me. I’ll try it next time. I hope it will work for me.

Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?

Done watching “Butterfly on a Wheel“. Good movie. But Gerard Butler is not as handsome he was in 300
. Gerard Butler, Maria Bello and Pierce Brosnan in one film is enough to make me want to watch it. It’s just so odd to watch Brosnan play a horrific character. This movie has a lot of twist.

I prefer Extradition

I have been having little fights again with boo which I think is normal. It’s all but flavor. Last night he invited me to watch a movie. He checked the movie schedules online and we watched “Rendition”. I have no idea about the Rendition Law. Only after the movie did I realize how dangerous this law could be. I mean not all Rendition types since Extradition still appears to be generally acceptable. But the rendition law practiced in the movie was quite disturbing, it’s so scary enough to keep me up at night if these were to be implemented in a foreign country where I am. I see this movie as the filmaker’s attempt to use movie making stream to get the audience attention about a moral crisis that many of us prefer to ignore.

It’s my 3rd time to be there after the Glorietta blast. I really do not go out much as my work ussually ties me up in my desk but if I need to go out to get some things I need or to unwind or dine, theres only 1 mall I ussualy go to… It’s Glorietta. And I can go there alone …comfortably even in my slippers.
I counted the number of the movie goers. There were only 16 people including me and dyu. Only 16 in one of Glorietta’s largest movie house (cinema 6). I would ussually buy DQ’s chocolate covered strawberry blizzard. It has become a part of my ritual when watching a movie. But to my surprise, they were already closed at 9:30pm! Wendy’s which is adjacent to cinema 6 and 7 was also closed. And so I had to make myself contented with SB strawberry cream frap. G4 terrace was also closed.
It was passed 12 midnight when we got out from Glorietta. There were no cabs and there were no other people waiting in the taxi stand. I don’t know why. Maybe beucase of the upcoming election or maybe because of the recent incident.
I am not just comfortable as I ussualy am before when I am there. I don’t feel safe. I’ll watch another movie tonight and I wish dyu will not take me there.
I took a video that night, and I will post it here.
A new phone, another Pocket PC

I started using Pocket PC about 5 years ago. It was a Compaq iPaq Pocket PC 3600 series, a PDA.
Then I got my first PDA Phone, an O2 XDA II Pocket PC more than 3 years ago. After serving me for 3 years and 2 months I am replacing it with HP iPAQ 6500 series Pocket PC. I actually had no plan of getting myself a new phone. But I had to save this HP since my brother is selling it for a very very cheap price when he in fact just used it for less than 6 months.
We went to Glorietta yesterday and I touched an iPhone for the first time. I made a vow not to buy a phone this year and promised to get an iPhone late next year but I simply fell in love with the iPhone. It was LOVE AT FIRST TOUCH. Lol. I’ll try my very best to get one on December. I just can’t wait for my 13th month pay. Lol.
Glorietta blast

I have been to Glorietta twice already after the blast. First was Sunday night, I and boo was supposed to watch a movie in G4 but we found out it was closed due to a fire in one of the resto near the G4 entrance. We proceeded to Greenbelt and watch “The Seeker” instead. And yesterday, I was there again with my brother because we had to buy a phone for him and had to pick up my jeans from Giordano. There were very few people in the mall. I seldom go to other parts of Manila. For someone like me who lives just a few hundred meters from Glorietta, I do not bother going to other malls. Going to Glorietta gives me an easy access to other mall sbecuase of the bridges built conneting Glorietta to Landmark and SM, and Landmark to Greenbelt.
I was in the office when the bombing occurred. I never thought that the sirene we can hear down the streets are headed to the bombing site about 2 miles away. I said bombing because I dont’t believe this is just an accidental blast. Someone for sure is behind this.
Boo sent me the email below today. Read up. I haven’t checked if there’s really a woman named Leslie in the blast victims but this is a good reminder for couples. Let us all lift a prayer for the victims and their families. I hope justice will be serve.
Inquirer Articles for Glorietta Blast
Good day everyone,
I wish I were writing under different circumstances.
I would like to inform you that my wife Leslie Cruz was part of the casualties in the Glorietta 2 Mall bombing in Makati City, Philippines. She was supposedto have a minor out patient surgery at Makati Medical
Center at 230pm.I had taken a leave from work to accompany her there. We dropped off our daughter, Amber, at my parents place in QC to babysit at around 10am. We then proceeded to Makati and was there at 1230pm. Since she had been fasting in preparation for her procedure, she wanted to move around and listen to some music while I grabbed a bite to eat. We parked at the basement of Park Square 2, and headed for the Glorietta 2 entrance. We parted at the top of the escalator, she turned right towards Filbar’s while I went left towards the restaurants. That was the last time I would see her.
Around 120pm, she had called me so that we can meet at the Glorietta 2 exit just in time to make her appointment. As I made my way there from Glorietta 1 through the connecting hallways, and was about to turn the corner, I heard 2 deep thumps and the shock-wavefrom the blast hit me. At that moment my heart dropped as I knew that the origin of the blast came from the same place where we were supposed to meet. I tried getting to where my wife was, but the dust was too much and it was as if I was staring at a white wall.
I still tried to convince myself that she was able to make it out, and that after ringing her mobile without a response only meant that she dropped it in the confusion. After 6 hours of searching from Makati Med. to Ospital ng Makati, the blast site, and back again to MMC - with the help of all the people I could get hold of, that I was able to get confirmation in what the state of my wife was.
My Dad and Uncle signaled me in from the ER of MMC. My Uncle (who’s a doctor) asked me to describe Leslie’s appearance to another group of doctors. I saw in the eyes of one that the description made sense. Instead of confirming it to me, they huddled together, then brought me to a small examination room. It was only through a digital camera that I was able to confirm (and deny) that she was indeed gone.
I have so many regrets. I should have met her sooner. I should have ran instead of a brisk walk. I should have not chose to park where I did. I should have braved the dust and went in the blast site. I should have …
Today’s the 4th day. It is still terribly difficult to breathe, let alone wake up realizing that your source of strength, your best friend doesn’t lie beside you on your bed. That my deepest worry is when Amber starts asking for her Mama.
I am glad that Amber’s too young to understand the loss and pain. In time I would like to tell her the details of how her mother died, but more importantly I would like to raise her as how her mother lived - a loving person, strong willed, decisive, caring, and nurturing. She has always cared for her family and friends, and sacrfied her career for being a full time mom and home maker.
As with all couples we had our ups and downs - none of which I regret not going through. The sweet is never as sweet without the sour. For almost 4 years of marriage, we’ve finally hit our balance in life only to be taken away in an instant. I have no regrets about our marriage. She has loved me and Amber beyond her capacity. I will always love her.
It is my first time to write to egroup as I’ve lurked and watched emails being sent to and fro. All I want now is that for each of the couples here is to cherish each moment that we spend with our loved ones. Pretty simple to say, very easy to take for granted.
Thank you all for the prayers. I would still like to ask you to please include Leslie in them until her 40th day so that the path to God’s kingdom is well lit and she is no longer in the dark.
Sincerely,
Carlo Cruz
