Was it a Miracle?

Mumaw, my 5-month old pug, got hold of a rib bone and swallowed it last Tuesday. Bone was about 2 - 2-1/2″ long and the other end had some meat and fat still on it. It happened late night so I had to wait the following day to call his vet. I had no idea what to do and pretty much panicked when it happened. I tried reading forums online and I got worried even more. When I got home the following day, Mama told me that mumaw was vomiting early that day. I called his vet and Dra. Peralta advised me to have an X-ray done. She suggested a mini-hospital along Evagelista, Makati. I immediately grab mumaw and ran to RG clinic. When we got there the receptionist was hesitant to entertain mumaw. She said they are not accepting pets. I told them I was referred by Dra. Peralta and so they let us go upstairs. Fortunately, Dr. Peralta was there also. He brought jingle, their pet, to have an x-ray since she had a miscarriage. When it came mumaw’s turn, the technician gave me a lead apron to protect my body. Dr Peralta helped me hold mumaw. A few minutes later, it was confirmed that there is a bone inside mumaw’s tummy.

Dr Peralta asked me to come with him in their clinic. The vet couple agreed that mumaw undergo a surgery to remove the bone as it may cause serious problems. We have agreed to have his operation done by Friday morning. And take mumaw back in their clinic as early as Thursday evening. And so I did. It was mumaw’s firt night outside our home since he got here in Manila. If feels so different. I remember that day Dra. Cora was joking miracle might happen.

(the night before I took mumaw back to the clinic, he looks sad right?)

(the day i and mama brought mumaw back to the clinic and left him there, the small pug pup in the crate had his left eye removed due to ulcer)

I called several times in the clinic friday morning to ask how mumaw was doing. I was expecting for the surgery to be done by 10 AM but I have learned the operation was delayed. I told Boo that after work i am going to the clinic to check mumaw and he said he is coming with me. When we got there, we were sooo surprised when we learned that the operation was cancelled because they could not see the bone anymore. Mumaw has 2 x-ray test again that day. The 2nd shot of x-ray was to ensure that the bone is really nowhere in his lower intestine. I couldn’t believe what I heard. Dra Peralta said it maybe because it’s Christmas. I looked for mumaw immediately. The clinic helper went inside the room adjacent to us and seconds later I saw mumaw running toward us. We still don’t know what happened. But I do feel a lot of relief now. However we are still keeping a close watch on him.
